About The Position

The Clinical Nurse B-MC (SSN) Flexible Integrated Team (FIT) is part of Loma Linda University Shared Services (LLUSS) supplemental staffing. The FIT nurse operates from a home department and is reassigned to various Loma Linda University Medical Center patient care departments to cover staffing needs due to sick calls, vacations, leaves, or vacancies. This role requires flexibility in accepting assignments. The nurse uses discretion and independent judgment to prioritize, coordinate, provide, and document direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. They perform the nursing process (assessment, care planning, intervention, evaluation) with minimal supervision, adhering to the Professional Practice Model (Duffy's Quality Caring Theory) to achieve holistic patient wellness and provide compassionate bereavement support. The nurse functions in a skills mix environment, delegating tasks to unlicensed staff according to their scope of practice. They are expected to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continuously expand their knowledge and skills, particularly in their area of specialty. The role requires meeting qualifications, licensure, certifications, competencies, and staffing requirements as defined by SSN guidelines. Professionalism, excellent customer service, and safe patient care are paramount. The nurse contributes to a caring and cooperative work environment among a diverse workforce and patient population. Participation in on-call rotation may be required based on department needs.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Diploma Degree in Nursing required
  • Minimum of one years of experience required
  • Completion of Basic Arrhythmia Recognition and Treatment course or equivalent required within six months of hire
  • Demonstrates basic competencies in clinical nursing
  • Ability to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in area of specialty and population served
  • Basic knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation required
  • Exhibits professional behavior at all times and works calmly and responds courteously when under pressure
  • Able to speak, read and write legibly in English with professional quality
  • Able to use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program

  • Apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and exhibit self-motivation to continually expand knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in area of specialty
  • Meet qualifications, licensure, certifications, competencies and staffing requirements as defined by SSN guidelines
  • Exhibit refined interpersonal skills that portray professionalism and maximize excellence in customer service and safe patient care
