This job involves receiving and preparing specimens according to standard protocols and procedures, performing laboratory tests and calculations to provide data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, and conducting quality control procedures. It also includes evaluating test performance and results, calibrating, maintaining, and monitoring equipment used in analytical determinations, and performing phlebotomy procedures as appropriate. Maintaining confidentiality of patient-related information is a key aspect of the role.
