About The Position

The Clinical/Medical Lab Scientist/Lab Technician (MLS/MLT) position at Ochsner Health is a part-time role responsible for receiving and preparing specimens, performing laboratory tests, and ensuring quality control in a clinical setting. Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical or biological science.
• Current license in the state of practice (if applicable).
• ASCP, AMT or AAB certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Receive and prepare specimens according to standard protocols and procedures.
• Perform laboratory tests and calculations to provide data for diagnosis and treatment.
• Conduct quality control procedures and evaluate test performance and results.
• Calibrate, maintain, and monitor laboratory equipment used in analytical determinations.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures as appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient-related information.
• Adhere to regulatory compliance guidelines and maintain awareness of accreditation standards.
• Participate in performance improvement opportunities and support business development initiatives.
