About The Position

OVERVIEW OF POSITION: Responsible for providing overall management of the Primary Care Behavioral Health program(s), including achievement of the strategic and clinical goals. Must adhere to the organizational Policies, Procedures, Code of Ethics, and all licensing and accreditation standards of the position. Must represent the organization’s Mission in all actions and communications. This is a full time, benefit eligible position typically working Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pm onsite at our downtown Grand Rapids location.

  • Familiarity with evidence-based treatment models, including Brief Behavioral Health interventions utilized in Primary Care settings.
  • Must have a master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology.
  • Must have one of the following licenses in the State of Michigan: LMSW, LPC, or LLP.
  • Three to five years of previous mental health and/or substance abuse assessment and treatment experience is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above.
  • Possible exposure to patients/clients with illnesses and/or infections.
  • Frequent telephone and computer use, requiring manual dexterity for writing and computer use.
  • Sitting, standing or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • May require bending, squatting, or kneeling and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference to have the CAADC certification (Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor) through MCBAP or be on a development plan for the CAADC.
  • CCS certification (Certified Clinical Supervisor) through MCBAP or being eligible to be on a development plan for the CCS, may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical oversight, supervision, and support to a team of providers within the Primary Care Behavioral Health model.
  • Provide administrative support to the Program Coordinator of the Strong Beginnings and Maternal Infant Health Programs.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills that foster a culture of mentoring, coaching, motivating and engaging staff.
  • Model and communicate key values in the community and to staff in a way that supports Cherry Health’s mission.
  • Educate and empower staff to be adept at meeting current and future organizational needs, and adjust schedule staff hours of work, priorities, and assignments to ensure efficient operation, based on workload.
  • Supervise and train assigned staff, addressing performance issues consistently, promptly, and appropriately.
  • Plan and facilitate meetings to communicate organization initiatives and updates to assigned staff.
  • Supervise the delivery of evidence-based practices as the standard of care.
  • Audit patient charts for clinical proficiency, quality, and timeliness.
  • Monitor and manage clinician schedules to ensure that staff time is being utilized effectively and appropriately.
  • Collaborate with management team on addressing issues of compliance and ethics.
  • Monitor credentialing, privileging, and licenses to ensure staff are up to date.
  • Supervise staff to meet productivity expectations.
  • Ensure contractual obligations regarding the specifications of the program, productivity, and frequency of patient contact are met consistently.
  • Assist in the development of clinical program goals.
  • May provide direct care to patients.
  • Ensure compliance with AAAHC, Medicaid, Medicare, and Cherry Health guidelines.
  • Understand and adhere to Cherry Health’s compliance standards as they appear in Cherry Health’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
