SUMMARY: The Clinical Manager of Nursing Operations reports directly to the System Director of Nursing Operations and has direct oversight of the Nursing Supervisors and Staffing Office. This position leads and ensures continuous nursing operation coverage, ensuring effective coordination and performance of the Nursing Supervisor and Staffing Office team. This role provides oversight of the safe and balanced scheduling of all inpatient nursing staff and nursing ancillary support, while leading the team responsible for continuous coverage across inpatient units. The Clinical Manager of Nursing Operations ensures staffing flexibility, operational efficiency, and high‑quality patient care across all inpatient units, and fosters a culture of safety, responsiveness, and professional growth in alignment with Brown University Health’s mission and values. This role has oversight over the interdiscplinary team, including nursing supervisors, nursing staffing specialists, and schedulers. Manages an interdisciplinary team and collaborates with local nursing leaders to manage day to day nursing operations. Implements and monitors patient safety initiatives in accordance with Brown University Health’s SafetyNet system, ensuring timely follow-up and trend analysis across care teams. Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to uphold national standards of care and contribute to performance improvement efforts that reflect the institution’s commitment to quality and safety. Actively solicits and integrates feedback from staff and patients to enhance care delivery and optimize operational performance, in alignment with Brown University Health’s values of openness and responsiveness. Leads continuous evaluation and strategic refinement of nurse supervisor rounding and staffing workflows to ensure efficiency and responsiveness to patient care needs. Oversees the integrity and utility of data reported by the nursing supervisor team, ensuring it is timely, accurate, and actionable for decision-making and performance improvement. Develops and manages comprehensive operational and capital budgets for the nursing supervisor team, providing detailed analysis and strategic insights into budget variances. Champions leadership development and professional advancement initiatives for Nursing Supervisors and Patient Care Services staff, fostering a culture of growth and excellence. Implements structured feedback mechanisms and resource allocation strategies to support staff in achieving professional development goals. Establishes, communicates, and enforces adherence to unit and organizational policies, procedures, and standards to ensure consistent and high-quality care. Provides strategic input and leadership on multidisciplinary quality improvement committees to advance patient care outcomes and operational excellence. Utilizes data analytics to identify trends and drive targeted improvements in patient care delivery and nursing operations. Contributes to organizational planning and development through active participation in strategic committees and initiatives. Maintains transparent and collaborative communication with all members of the healthcare team to support coordinated and patient-centered care. Demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge and leadership in guiding patient care across the lifespan, incorporating developmental, cultural, and aging considerations into every aspect of care. Performs additional strategic and operational duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goal.
