About The Position

Performs the primary functions of a professional nurse leader in assessing, planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating patient care in the Med/Surg Department on a 24-hour basis. Responsible for hiring, developing and supervising all staff, ensuring continuity of care with all shifts. Responsible for implementing care in accordance to defined standards of practice, meeting accreditation and licensing requirements, developing and implementing policies and procedures, managing equipment /supplies, budget development and implementation, and promoting teamwork with physicians and personnel of other departments. Assures Performance Improvement process is aligned and meaningful to the Hospital and Department Mission and Goals, activities are enacted, participates in monitoring and reporting progress to Administration.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years clinical experience in Medical Surgical Nursing
  • Minimum of 3 years of hospital supervisory experience
  • Strong healthcare management, leadership and communication skills
  • Clinical knowledge and skills appropriate to the departments supervised
  • Positive customer services skills
  • Collegiality among peers, administration and medical staff members
  • Recent experience meeting applicable hospital state and federal licensing and certification regulations including California Title 22, Clinical Lab Improvement Act (CLIA) and deemed status Accreditation Organizations (HFAP or JCAHO)
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field required.
  • Current State of California Board of Registered Nurse License.
  • Current American Heart Association BCLS, ACLS certification required.
  • Current NIHSS Certification and Basic Arrythmia.
