Surg Center of Silver Spring is a state-of-the-art multispecialty outpatient surgical center located in the heart of Bethesda, Maryland. The Clinical Manager directs, coordinates and controls the multi-disciplinary activities for patients undergoing surgical intervention in a safe environment. Responsible for the interpretation, direction and evaluation of nursing practice to promote safe, efficient and therapeutically effective nursing care throughout the Center. Demonstrates the primary goal of providing surgical services that exceed customer expectations and improve clinical and financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement nursing philosophy and objectives consistent with the stated goals of the Center.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and staffing essential to the achievement of the philosophy and objectives of the Center.
  • Evaluate programs and patient care activities.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.
  • Assure documentation of patient care to meet legal practice, state and federal health standards.
  • Develop an organizational structure, assigning responsibilities and delegating authority for effective care.
  • Provide leadership and support in developing relationships with center staff and medical staff.
  • Establish, maintain, analyze, and evaluate standards of nursing care within the Center.
  • Collaborate on standards of performance with ancillary support services.
  • Recruit, retain, evaluate and supervise nursing personnel.
  • Maintain awareness of professional issues impacting nursing services and health care management.
  • Initiate and support activities to control costs.
  • Order, receive, store and distribute medical supplies and drugs.
  • Make recommendations for medical supplies and equipment purchases.
  • Oversee quarterly inventory, including counting, pricing and extending pricing.
  • Delegate administrative responsibilities in absence of the Administrator.
  • Provide guidance, counseling and support to nursing staff.
  • Supervise nursing orientation programs and staff development.
  • Direct attention to infection control and environmental safety practices.
  • Supervise collection of all required records and reports.
  • Hold employees accountable for assigned responsibilities and performance expectations.
  • Serve on the facility Quality Improvement Committee.
  • Establish, maintain, and evaluate quality control studies within the operating room, pre-operative area and PACU.
  • Identify areas requiring additional reinforcement through education or consultation.
  • Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality.
  • Follow the Center's professional conduct and dress code policy.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with all stakeholders.
  • Attend all mandatory in-services and meetings.
  • Act in accordance with the vision, mission and business of the Center.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Experience in a surgical or clinical management role.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of nursing practices and procedures.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in outpatient surgical settings.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and accreditation standards.
  • Certification in nursing administration or management.
