About The Position

The Clinical Liaison evaluates or examines potential patients to determine candidacy for admission to the Moody Neuro Rehabilitation program in Galveston. The Liaison also assists the medical director and program director in determining eligibility and clinical appropriateness for post-acute brain injury services. The evaluation process includes a carefully reviewed medical history of the injury event, systematic evaluation of current status; determination of current deficits; and recommendations in a comprehensive written evaluation report. A fast-paced position with a focus on responsiveness, accuracy and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Requires extensive reading and ability to review files, electronic and paper records, and other information.
  • Requires very articulate verbal ability to communicate with people of varying backgrounds and education.
  • Requires computer abilities to access software platforms or applications utilized for the screening process for Moody Neurorehabilitation.
  • Requires visual, verbal, auditory acuity to evaluate patients. Executing the screening may include observing the patients in therapy at their current placement. Gathering patient information from OT, PT, SLP, Counseling, Case Management, Director of Rehabilitation and attending Physician.
  • Requires travel to the patient's location via various forms of transportation including automobile and airplane. Locations could have inclement weather conditions. Must be able to drive self and have ability and flexibility to function in new locations. Must be able to transport files, laptop, and/or luggage.
  • Degree as an RN or LVN, OT, PT, SLP, PT-A, OT-A, or other clinical rehabilitation degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Marketing and CEU presentation experience preferred
  • RN, LVN, PT, OT, SLP, PT-A, OT-A with clinical evaluation experience preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Reviews all necessary records and forms to utilize when conducting an evaluation.
  • Comprehends medical data, presents impressions, formulates goals in a definitively comprehensive manner, and articulates medical necessity within a written comprehensive evaluation report.
  • Collaborates with clinical program and medical director regarding actions to be taken prior to patient admission throughout the referral process.
  • Works closely in collaboration with admissions to coordinate the preliminary details of the in-person evaluation.
  • Meets with the patient, families/caregivers, referrals sources and clinicians involved in the referral process.
  • Notifies key personnel by conversation or electronic or written means of the details concerning each evaluation (date, location, nature, the purpose of assessment).
  • Notifies key personnel by conversation and/or electronic or written means of the details concerning insurance health benefits, copays, and deductibles to be provided to Moody Admissions.
  • Creates a comprehensive examination report according to the Pre-Admission Screening Report guidelines.
  • Develops an understanding of medical necessity language and able to review medical records and performs evaluation for establishing medical necessity.
  • Assists Moody Admissions with the referral and admission process and coordination of admissions as needed.
  • Schedules and attends pre-admission meetings to provide patient admission information to other staff members. Attends other meetings as needed.
  • Maintains a consistent line of communication with the Medical Director, Clinical Program Director, Clinical Liaisons, Admissions Coordinators, Admissions Manager, and Business Development Manager, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Clinical Officer and/or CEO as needed regarding patient admission and pertinent patient information necessary for effective programming.
  • Communicates responsibly with program participants, family members and payors regarding rehabilitation planning, admissions logistics, etc.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with potential referral sources.
  • Describes programs for referral sources, family members and brain injury survivors.
  • Markets the services available at Moody with patients, families, insurance carriers, referral sources and when needed, industry conferences.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
