To learn more about Baptist Health, visit us at https://www.baptistfirst.org. Highlights: Summary: The Clinical Laser Safety Officer shall be responsible for all laser safety for Surgical Services. This individual will also perform preventative maintenance, calibration, daily operational checks, trouble shooting, and repairs of all lasers and other laser related equipment in Surgical Services. Additionally, the Safety Officer will operate the laser during laser procedures and function as the Laser Safety Officer for Surgical Services. This individual will assist in the set up procedure for laparoscopy cases related to video and endoscopy equipment.This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have attended Technical or Engineering school in electronics, electrical technology/engineering, biomedical technology/engineering, or a laser technical
  • BLS required
  • Ability to use calibration equipment, oscilloscopes, and electronic testing equipment
  • Able to read electronic specifications schematics, technical manuals, etc.
  • Ability to use and be responsible for tools and related equipment for repair
  • Work within a sterile environment
  • Work with high electrical voltage and electronic components of sophisticated technological equipment
  • Able to recognize and establish priorities and be attentive to details
  • Demonstrate good work ethics
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow established and approved hospital policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills
  • Position requires sitting for 25%, walking 35%, standing 40% of the workday
  • There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
  • There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action
  • Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds
  • There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person
  • Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range
  • Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
  • Minimal noise levels
  • Much exposure to computer work
  • Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock
