Requirements

• Qualified as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in accordance with New York State Department of Health regulations
• Minimum 1 year experience in standard laboratory methodologies, required
• Licensure by NYS SED as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist required, or licensure-eligible with a limited permit or limited license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Responsibilities

• Performs and verifies (reports) laboratory tests and/or prepares products for transfusion on acceptable specimens to obtain accurate data in accordance with established procedures and protocols and in a timely manner
• Performs quality control (QC) processes and proficiency testing (PT) as assigned
• Maintains laboratory equipment, instruments, reagents and/or supplies and documentation required in performance of job responsibilities
• Follows all institution and department policies and procedures
• Maintains a clean and orderly work environment
• Direct, review, and/or verify work of other clinical laboratory personnel, students, and/or nursing staff as assigned
• May be required to perform supervisory functions in the absence of the regular supervisor
• Performs other duties within their scope of practice as assigned
