About The Position

LabCorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Professional to join their team at Ascension Sacred Heart in Pensacola, FL. This is a Casual/Per Diem position; hours will be "as needed" and the start and end times will vary. The role involves performing routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures in a high volume, production based environment. The professional will monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation, make technical decisions, prepare and evaluate reagents, and report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology OR an MLS degree
  • 1 or more years of clinical laboratory testing experience is required
  • FL Medical Technologist (MT) license
  • In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Proficient with computers
  • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Nice To Haves

  • ASCP or AMT certification

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
