About The Position

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND one year of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience.
  • Completion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy course and Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist (MA-P) certification with the WA State Department of Health.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specimen processing activities including receiving, sorting, and prioritizing specimens.
  • Set up bacterial susceptibility testing and match specimens against requisitions.
  • Centrifuge and aliquot specimens, process timed urine collections, and perform blood draws on patients.
  • Respond to client inquiries about test information with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Teach and train other staff on laboratory procedures and policies.
  • Resolve specimen or order-related problems and document appropriately.
