About The Position

The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP) in Renton, WA has a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) Lead with the Specimen Processing Services Team at the Renton Central Lab. Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND three (3) years of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in science
  • Experience in a major medical hospital laboratory
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHRs) information systems
  • Experience with laboratory information system (LIS)

Responsibilities

  • Informs supervisor of operational status and personnel issues and provides leadership to the Central Lab Specimen Processing Services (SPS) staff.
  • Performs the work of Clinical Laboratory Technicians (CLT 1, CLT 2) and assigns, instructs, and reviews the work of others.
  • Primary focus is the pre-analytical handling and processing of patient specimens for diagnostic testing.
  • Responsible for receiving, processing and distribution of routine and stat specimens for analytical testing.
  • Operates laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, and processing hoods.
  • Performs at a technical level on routine laboratory tests and/or laboratory processing and set up work which supports the operations of a clinical laboratory.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and supports the hospital in meeting JCAHO, CLIA and CAP accreditation standards.
  • Inspires and motivates subordinates by personal motivation, loyalty, enthusiasm and positive attitude towards self, others and the workplace.
  • Communicates courteously and clearly with hospital and laboratory staff to resolve problems.
  • Establish and maintain positive attitude toward patients, patient care providers, self, others and the workplace.
