About The Position

We are so glad you are interested in joining Sutter Health! The Clinical Laboratory Technician I position involves collecting blood specimens, as well as receiving, handling, and processing specimens for laboratory testing. The role requires interaction with patients of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs, and behaviors. Responsibilities include receiving, sorting, and accessioning specimens, assigning them to appropriate pre-analytic and analytic workflows, and completing computerized tasks related to patient registration and/or test order entry. The technician will also perform basic post-analytic tasks, including distributing reports and storing/retrieving specimens. Quality-related tasks such as documentation of work, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and monitoring pending work are also part of the job. The technician will operate basic pre-analytic lab equipment and adhere to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • CPTI-Certified Phlebotomy Technician I or CPT II-Certified Phlebotomy Technician II.
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of standard principles and processes related to laboratory testing and specimen handling.
  • Ability to accurately perform job duties and prioritize tasks.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to interact compassionately with patients.

  • Experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and procedures.
