The Clinical Laboratory Technician I position involves collecting blood specimens, as well as receiving, handling, and processing specimens for laboratory testing. The role requires interaction with patients of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs, and behaviors. Responsibilities include receiving, sorting, and accessioning specimens, assigning them to appropriate pre-analytic and analytic workflows, and completing computerized tasks related to patient registration and/or test order entry. The technician will also perform basic post-analytic tasks, including distributing reports and storing/retrieving specimens. Quality-related tasks such as documentation of work, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and monitoring pending work are also part of the job. The technician will operate basic pre-analytic lab equipment and adhere to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.
