Who we’re looking for: The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP) in Seattle, WA has a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 2 with the Ambulatory Services Team at UW Medical Center - Roosevelt . In this role, you will join a team of respectful and collaborative lab professionals in providing outstanding direct patient care to UW Medicine patients . As a C LT 2, you will be responsible for pre-analytic laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy and specimen processing as well as performing several rapid tests on - site. This is a great professional growth opportunity for L ab T echnicians, L ab A ssistants, or P hlebotomists to learn and perform point of care testing, quality control and quality assurance, and basic troubleshooting. This position may rotate between the Husky Health Center, South Lake Union, and Eastside Specialty Center clinical laboratories as needed . W ork schedule : 100% FTE Monday – Friday (no weekends and holidays) Day shift What you’ll contribute: Perform stat and routine tests utilizing kit assays and point of care devices and accurately enter test results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) . Perform quality control analyses on all tests assigned and determine whether all parameters are within established ranges . Perform routine quality monitoring of test systems and troubleshoot, when necessary, by consulting manufacturer’s manuals, division procedures, and requesting guidance from the MLS or Lead . Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and appropriately handle telephone inquiries from staff and providers . Perform phlebotomy on adult and pediatric patients . Interpret provider test orders, prioritize specimen handling based on specimen type and clinical urgency, monitor requisitions and labels for accuracy , and investigate/document errors and incomplete orders . Prepare and process specimens for transport and testing, storing specimens under optimal temperature conditions for the test(s) indicated . Exhibit a working knowledge of the lab information systems (LIS), including Sunquest and EPIC; p roblem-solve issues, and generate batch lists, pending logs, and exception reports, etc. to document and track specimens within the Department . Participate in training and demonstrate routine laboratory techniques to students and new employees . Monitor laboratory inventory in assigned work area and notify lead if supplies are needed and place orders, if assigned . Represent DLMP and UW Medicine to play an important role in promoting our mission, values and goal of service excellence and patient safety.
