About The Position

Overview We are seeking an experienced Section Coordinator to provide technical leadership and operational support within a hospital-based clinical laboratory. This role functions as a senior technologist, supporting quality control, staff development, and regulatory compliance while maintaining hands-on testing responsibilities. This opportunity is ideal for a licensed Medical Technologist with leadership capability who enjoys mentoring staff and supporting laboratory operations during off-shift hours.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Science or related field
  • Active Florida Medical Technologist Supervisory License
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist in a clinical or acute care laboratory
  • Demonstrated ability to lead staff and manage laboratory workflows

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science
  • ASCP or equivalent professional certification
  • Generalist laboratory experience across multiple disciplines

Responsibilities

  • Perform STAT and routine laboratory testing with accuracy and efficiency
  • Conduct quality control procedures per established protocols and document results
  • Support compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., CAP, CLIA)
  • Assist with training, onboarding, and competency validation of laboratory staff
  • Prioritize, perform, or delegate testing based on patient needs, staff competencies, and productivity guidelines
  • Serve as a technical resource and point of escalation for laboratory staff
  • Provide operational feedback and updates to laboratory leadership
  • Lead by example to promote teamwork, accountability, and quality outcomes
  • Support daily workflow, staffing coordination, and shift-level operations
