About The Position

This position is for a professional nurse within the Federal service, specifically in various locations in Montana. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of nursing practices and the ability to implement nursing plans of care for assigned patients. Applicants must demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the position. The job is open for applications from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025. Candidates may receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part-time work. The position may also consider applicants who are currently enrolled in a nursing program and expected to complete their education within nine months of applying.

Requirements

• A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program.
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service.
• Certification (or ability to obtain certification) in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a specialty area of nursing for GS-9 and above grade levels.
• Possession of a master's degree in professional nursing.

Responsibilities

• Implement nursing plans of care and interventions for assigned patients.
• Identify and act on urgent patient care needs.
• Complete complex procedures, medications, and treatments.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
• Provide guidance and direction to nursing personnel.
