This position is a federal role that requires candidates to demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the job. The job encompasses various areas of clinical laboratory science, and candidates must meet minimum qualifications based on their education and experience levels.

  • Assist senior technologists in preparing reagents.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests.
  • Follow procedures to ensure quality control.
  • Use basic lab equipment and instruments.
  • Perform phlebotomy.
  • Process patient samples and conduct analysis.
  • Maintain section records.
  • Recognize unusual or unexpected test results.
  • Calculate results using statistical and analytical formulas.
  • Operate complex clinical analyzers.
  • Provide training to junior and generalist technologists.
  • Bachelor's or graduate degree from an accredited college/university with courses in biological science, chemistry, and mathematics.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Scientist program accredited by NAACLS.
  • Five years of full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in relevant fields.
  • Certification as a medical technologist obtained through a recognized credentialing agency.
  • Experience in a hospital laboratory, health agency, or similar settings.
  • Experience in microbiology, clinical chemistry, hematology, and immunohematology.
  • Graduate-level education in medical technology or related fields.
  • Experience in teaching, test development, or medical research.
