About The Position

This position requires a comprehensive understanding of nursing practices and the ability to perform various nursing duties. Applicants must demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to qualify for the role. Experience can include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer service through National Service programs. A positive education requirement is in place, necessitating the submission of transcripts or a detailed education history. The position also requires a graduate or higher level degree from an accredited nursing program and a current, active nursing license. The selected individual must maintain licensure requirements throughout their employment.

Requirements

• Graduate or higher level degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program.
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse.
• Experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service.
• For GS-5: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or diploma/associate degree with one year of experience.
• For GS-7: Bachelor's degree in Nursing with one year of experience or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement provision.
• For GS-9: Master's degree in professional nursing or one year of experience equivalent to GS-7.
• For GS-10: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or one year of experience equivalent to GS-9.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a plan of care for assigned patients.
• Provide nursing interventions based on established plans of care.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions.
• Assess and care for the nursing needs of patients.
• Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react swiftly in emergency situations.
• Operate complex medical equipment as needed.
• Plan and provide comprehensive nursing care in the Emergency Department.
