About The Position

Under the direction of the Director, Laboratory Supervisor, or Lead CLS, the Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) performs technical procedures with little or no direct supervision across various areas of the clinical laboratory, including Blood Bank, Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Microbiology, Serology, and Urinalysis. The role requires performing and reporting timely and accurate test results to aid physicians in diagnosis and treatment. Duties encompass clerical tasks, computer usage, and other related laboratory services. The CLS will work with potentially infectious blood and body fluid specimens and must be competent to assess and meet the needs of patients of all age groups or seek guidance from appropriate hospital resources. Maintaining a working knowledge of CLIA, FDA, and Agency standards is also essential. Additional duties, shifts, or departmental rotations may be assigned as required.

Requirements

• BS or equivalent in medical technology or biological sciences
• Current CA CLS license
• 0-3 years experience in a hospital or reference laboratory
• Working knowledge of LIS
• Experience with automated laboratory instruments
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to work weekends
