About The Position

This position is for a Medical Technologist within the Federal service, specifically in various locations across North Dakota and South Dakota. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of clinical laboratory practices and the ability to perform a variety of laboratory tests. Candidates must demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to fulfill the duties of the position, which includes both paid and unpaid experiences, such as volunteer work. The job is open for applications from January 13, 2025, to December 31, 2025.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college/university with courses in biological science, chemistry, and mathematics.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist program accredited by NAACLS or a recognized accrediting body.
  • Five years of full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in various disciplines such as Blood Banking, Chemistry, and Microbiology.
  • Certification as a medical technologist obtained through a nationally recognized credentialing agency or State licensing body.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a hospital laboratory or health agency.
  • Teaching or medical research program experience related to clinical laboratory work.
  • Graduate education in medical technology or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technologist in preparing reagents.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests under supervision.
  • Follow procedures to ensure quality control in laboratory processes.
  • Use basic laboratory equipment and instruments effectively.
  • Standardize and calibrate laboratory instruments as needed.
  • Prepare reagents and controls for laboratory tests.
  • Maintain quality control and perform analysis reviewed by senior staff.
  • Provide training to junior technologists and assist in their development.
