Invitae, now part of Labcorp, is seeking a motivated and self-driven Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join its team in San Francisco, CA. This role will be responsible for performing high-complexity diagnostic testing on patient specimens across various molecular assays and platforms. The work requires excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to multitask as well as work independently within a team environment.   • Performs clinical laboratory specimen handling, processing, testing, analysis, and records maintenance according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Identifies any issues that may adversely affect the quality of test results and escalates these to appropriate representatives to ensure prompt resolution
  • Assists with quality control and quality assurance activities
  • Maintains appropriate laboratory supplies and inventory
  • Prepares reagents and performs instrument maintenance
  • Oversees Laboratory Technicians performing clinical activities (in accordance with state regulations)
  • Participates in trainings and competency assessments of other technologists
  • Participates in verification and validation studies for process improvements, new equipment, and new technology transfer
  • Maintains a safe work environment and wears appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Participates in continuing education credits
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Bachelor’s degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
  • Current CA CLS Generalist or CGMBS License required
  • 2 years of experience working as a CLS or Medical Technologist highly preferred
  • Molecular biology lab experience performing DNA sequencing or high-complexity molecular techniques preferred
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
  • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
  • CGMBS license highly preferred
  • Experience using liquid-handlers is a plus
