About The Position

Our NEW Pediatric Behavioral Health Center is scheduled to open in December 2026. Candidates applying for this position should expect a start date after September 1, 2026. All applicants must be 21 years of age or older and provide two professional references as part of the hiring process. General Description: Under general direction, works independently, performs routine and complex clinical laboratory testing. At this level incumbents may train, assist, evaluate and/or review the work/performance of level I employees and other laboratory personnel as assigned. May require working with infectious agents. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position. Has primary responsibility for a major function within one or more lab section such as key operator for area or instruments. Participates in performance improvement activities and supports the hospital in meeting regulatory and accreditation standards. Assist other staff with laboratory quality activities including quality monitoring and auditing, occurrence/deviation documentation and preparing performance improvement plans. Principal resource for analyzer maintenance and repair. Responsible for advanced troubleshooting and technical problem solving for area of responsibility. Assumes responsibility of own professional development and acts as a resource to others. Assists in the development of training materials. Calls notification values to appropriate clinical staff and documents those notifications in the electronic medical record. Performs proficiency testing according to laboratory and regulatory requirements. Submits proficiency testing results for areas of responsibility. Participates in inventory management and ensures appropriate supplies and reagents are on hand for area of responsibility. Completes annual competency assessment and acts as qualified evaluator. Acts as preceptor for laboratory personnel and assists in the training of students and Pathology residents. Assists in the development and/or validation of new tests. Acts as reviewer for laboratory technical procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree of Medical Lab Technology (MLT), OR Bachelor’s Degree which includes: 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses, OR 24 semester hours of science courses that include six (6) semester hours of chemistry, six (6) semester hours of biology, and twelve (12) semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a clinical or other laboratory setting required.
  • Nationally recognized certification through one of the following governing accreditations: ASCP, AMT, AABB, NASKL, ASCLS, HHS, ASHI, AAB, ABB, AMS, CRP, EBPH, Military or NILA.
  • Must have the advanced skills to perform required laboratory testing.
  • Must be able to lead a team and provide feedback and instructions to testing personnel.
  • Must be able to consistently and dependably report to work as scheduled.
  • Must be able to maintain legible, accurate and organized records.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information and exercise sound judgment.
  • Must be able to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Must possess ability to understand various operations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work and communicate with co-workers and other caregivers, and meet their needs in a professional, polite, courteous, compassionate, and cooperative manner.
