About The Position

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Laboratory Information Manager) works independently planning and carrying out the procedures necessary to complete work assignments. Major duties include but are not limited to: Develops and recommends new policies and procedures regarding the installation and use of the laboratory information system (LIS) or the hospital information system (HIS). Implements and maintains coding and mapping for laboratory test ordering, reporting billing, and workload recording systems. Analyzes emerging trends, software, and technology and adopts appropriate methods for local programs to meet agency goals. Advise all organizational levels on various aspects of the functions and capabilities of the information system. Serves as a recognized expert to provide authoritative advice and consultation on the information system. Serves as a the local expert for the national software developers for alpha or beta testing of software packages. Carries out day-to-day operations related laboratory computer use. Performs other duties as assigned.
