About The Position

This role provides the technical knowledge, expertise, and judgment required to support the Sharp HealthCare (SHC) mission and scope of laboratory services. The position involves analytical testing procedures, equipment management, and quality assurance to ensure high standards of laboratory operations. The candidate will be responsible for completing testing procedures, documenting activities, evaluating data for accuracy, and acting as a key resource for employee training and development.

Requirements

  • California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Generalist license or equivalent specialty license.
  • Education required for CA State CLS or CLS specialty.
  • Experience in a clinical laboratory as a CLS preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes testing procedures using written policies and procedures; identifies issues and submits necessary revisions.
  • Performs new procedures within acceptable training time intervals; meets/exceeds department turnaround time goals.
  • Documents activities and results consistently and thoroughly; proofreads and double checks own work.
  • Reviews operational reports for possible clerical and analytical errors and makes corrections as necessary.
  • Evaluates data for accuracy and verifies questionable findings with thorough investigation.
  • Performs pre-analytical and analytical procedures considering patient age and population-specific groups.
  • Demonstrates emotional intelligence and critical thinking under stressful situations.
  • Acts as a key resource for employee training, development, and competency assessment.
  • Utilizes equipment and tools per manufacturer's instructions and established procedures.
  • Reports and resolves equipment issues in a timely manner.
  • Participates in analyzer and test methodology evaluation and selection.
  • Coordinates and completes processes to meet quality testing standards.
  • Supervises work activities performed by Medical Lab Technicians and promotes teamwork.
  • Completes and assesses quality control performance and proficiency testing.
  • Identifies errors and follows through with investigation and correction.
