Position Summary The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) supports clinical laboratory testing and quality processes within the allergy clinic setting, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant diagnostic results to support patient care. This role reports administratively to the Clinic Practice Manager and clinically to the Regional Medical Director, working closely with providers, nursing staff, and operational teams to maintain high standards of clinical quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The CLS is responsible for performing laboratory testing, maintaining laboratory equipment and documentation, supporting quality control initiatives, and ensuring adherence to CLIA, CAP, and applicable State and Federal regulations. This position is well suited for an ambitious professional seeking growth and increased responsibility within a fast-paced outpatient clinical environment. This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position, scheduled for 40 hours per week. Work hours may vary based on assigned clinic location, Monday through Friday. This role will be based primarily in Vista, CA clinic but may also provide support to other nearby locations within San Diego County. The ideal candidate is adaptable and enjoys collaborating across multiple sites to ensure seamless operations and excellent patient experiences.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field (required)
  • Coursework must include: 16 semester hours of chemistry, including analytical and biological chemistry. 16 semester hours of biological sciences, including microbiology, hematology, and immunology. 3 semester hours of physics, math, or statistics.
  • Experience working in a sterile or clean room laboratory/environment.
  • CLS license or applicable laboratory certification (required based on state regulations)
  • Analytical Chemistry Equipment and Processes (HPLC, GC, TLC)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOP-driven processes
  • Detail oriented and have strong critical thinking skills.
  • Work well independently.
  • Basic computer skills such as spreadsheet, word processing and e-mail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in clinical laboratory, radiopharmacy, or regulated manufacturing environments preferred
  • Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation (TLC, HPLC, GC) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical laboratory testing, including allergy testing, clinical chemistry (e.g., metabolic panels, enzyme assays), and hematology (CBCs without manual differentials)
  • Conduct laboratory testing on blood, tissue, and other specimens and report validated results used for diagnosis and treatment
  • Perform complex compounding and manufacturing activities under supervision, in accordance with State and Federal regulations
  • Operate cyclotrons and chemistry modules as required, following approved SOPs
  • Execute quality control testing using analytical equipment (e.g., TLC, HPLC, GC)
  • Operate, maintain, inspect, and troubleshoot laboratory, manufacturing, and QC equipment
  • Complete Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly preventive maintenance on cyclotrons, chemistry modules, and QC equipment per SOPs
  • Implement and adhere to approved SOP updates related to production and quality control
  • Maintain accurate and complete batch records, QC documentation, logs, and regulatory records
  • Support logistics and distribution activities, including product preparation, courier coordination, and required documentation
  • Build, maintain, and support the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
  • Ensure compliance with all cGMP, cGLP, CLIA, CAP, and applicable State and Federal regulatory requirements
  • Support internal audits, regulatory inspections, investigations, and corrective actions as needed
