About The Position

Responsible for supervising assigned microbiology staff in accordance with their job descriptions, maintaining a high standard of work and is responsible for timely and accurate reporting on all shifts.

Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Clinical Laboratory, Chemical, or Biological Science
5 years of pertinent microbiology supervisory experience, with at least 2 years experience at the technologist level
Florida State licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor is preferred. If not currently licensed as a Laboratory Supervisor with the State of Florida, must meet the minimum requirements for licensure and obtain as Florida Supervisor License with the introductory period of 90 days.
This Laboratory requires licensure in the specialties of Microbiology.

Nice To Haves

ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Remains cognizant of accrediting agency requirements and maintains manuals, logs and other documents to their standards.
Aids in developing and implementing all policies relating to Quality Assurance, Quality Control, the handling and disposal of hazardous materials within their section
Shows leadership, delegates responsibility, establishes accountability among his/her staff, participates in and encourages continuing education.
Performs regular inservices, orientates new staff, performs annual evaluation and prepares work schedules, maintains inventory and staffing within budgetary limitations.
Responsible for all Medical Technologist duties.
Performs bench work as needed and in accordance with Policy and Procedures
Other duties as assigned.
