About The Position

The Clinical Laboratory Manager at UC San Diego Health is responsible for the daily operational management of the Clinical Laboratory, ensuring efficient specimen processing and laboratory testing. This role involves overseeing productivity, technical performance, and the operation of laboratory equipment, while also applying management theory and technical knowledge to improve laboratory operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related area plus seven (7) years of related experience/training or eleven (11) years of related experience, education/training.
• Experience and proven success in technical proficiency in laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Demonstrated knowledge of management theory and functions.
• Proven ability to apply technical knowledge and skills to improve operations.

Nice To Haves

• California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.
• Professional Process Improvement Certification (Yellow, Green, Black Belt in Lean, Six Sigma or other professional certification).
• Experience in a lab with emphasis on Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation & Blood Bank.
• SBB certification.
• Knowledge of regulatory agencies such as FDA, AAB & CAP.
