About The Position

Serves as key strategist with the Executive in initiating and developing new strategic direction, long- and short-range plans and innovative initiatives. Has high level authority to make official commitments and to broadly represent the Executive's interests across the organization. Responds to issues with little or no precedence. May manage and administer independent program(s), typically with organization-wide impact. May manage professional staff handling diverse administrative functions such as human resources and budgetary planning. Uses advanced concepts and organizational objectives to resolve highly complex issues. Regularly works on highly complex issues or problems which require analysis of unique issues / problems without precedent and / or structure. Exercises a high level of judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. This position is responsible for leading & implementing Beaker, a two-year, $26 million project. The position requires the ability to work with various stakeholders, understand their positions, and make decisions that are in the best interests of UCSF Health. The project should be implemented in a way that increases standardization across the health system and aligns with industry standards. This role will be responsible for project leading the Lab Centralization & Modernization which includes partnership with all departments within Clinical Laboratory (clinical lab, anatomic pathology & genomics) across all of UCSF Health. This position supports the Vice President of Clinical Services and clinical leaders in implementing and the strategic direction for Clinical Lab and Pathology and is responsible for quality, financial performance and meeting key performance indicators This position is integral in driving the system operational and financial performance, achieving efficiency targets, and ensuring the highest integrity for the business operations of these departments. This includes developing and monitoring of the annual Clinical Lab and Pathology financial budgets across the system and managing the strategic, capital planning, and budgeting processes. Implements goals and priorities for a large number of competing programs ensuring the facility operates efficiently and maintains established medical and healthcare standards.Implements and monitors short and long-term strategic plans across all areas, engaging leaders and respective departments. Promotes program development and advises on the planning and expansion of services. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $166,700 - $250,700 (Annual Rate). Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Advanced knowledge of the organization's processes, protocols and procedures
  • Advanced skills in short- and long-range planning, program and project management, facilitation and collaboration
  • Sound strategic thinking and consulting skills in guiding the organization toward workable strategies and solutions
  • Proven ability to focus on priorities, strategies, and vision
  • Advanced ability to coach, facilitate and influence people at all levels
  • Advanced ability to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of staff and members of the community
  • Knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs
  • Financial analysis and reporting techniques
