About The Position

Texas Health Alliance's Laboratory department is looking for a top skilled Clinical Laboratory Assistant. This position is part-time and requires working on days, specifically Friday from 1330-0000, Saturday from 1530-0000, and Sunday from 1730-2230. The role involves working in a team-based environment with a workplace culture that is second to none. The department operates on lean principles and relies heavily on a team atmosphere and individual performance, supported by highly engaged laboratory management.

Requirements

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency.
• 6 Months experience as a phlebotomist or completion of a one semester course in phlebotomy preferred.
• PBT(ASCP) - Phlebotomy Technician Upon Hire Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows laboratory procedure for specimen collection, patient identification and labeling as appropriate for the age of the patient.
• Handles and processes specimens in a manner that follows safety guidelines.
• Handles unacceptable specimens according to laboratory procedures.
• Performs procedures in other areas of the Laboratory as required by the hospital entity.
• Reports and evaluates test results.
• Facilitates workflow process.
• Helps other hospital and laboratory coworkers to provide timely patient care.
• Processes specimens and demonstrates ability to perform specimen processing protocols.
• Participates in orientation and training of students, volunteers, new employees, and observers.
• Maintains commitment to profession by attending continuing education sessions.
• Follows quality control guidelines and performs equipment maintenance.
• Incorporates safety/infection control measures into work practices.
