About The Position

Arnot Health is seeking a dedicated Clinical Laboratory Assistant I (CLA I) to join our Laboratory Services team. As a CLA, you'll play an essential support role in the lab by performing key non-technical tasks that directly contribute to patient care and the accuracy of diagnostic testing. What You'll Do: Phlebotomy & Specimen Collection: Perform blood draws with strict attention to patient identification and labeling (training provided if no prior experience). Specimen Processing & Accessioning: Receive and process specimens in the lab computer system, label and decant into appropriate containers for testing. Reference Lab Preparation: Utilize test catalogs to determine specimen stability, type, and transport requirements for reference lab testing. 24-Hour Urine Processing: Measure and accurately document total volume and prepare urine specimens for testing. Specimen Tracking & Test Add-Ons: Track specimens within the lab and process additional physician test orders using the lab system. Courier Services: Perform light courier duties between Arnot Ogden Medical Center (AOMC) and St. Joseph's Hospital (SJH). Administrative Tasks: Answer phones, distribute faxes, check refrigerators, and assist with general office functions. Patient-Centered Focus: Provide friendly, respectful interactions with patients and colleagues to ensure a positive experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver's license required (for courier duties)
  • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and lift objects up to 40 lbs
  • Commitment to quality, detail, and patient service

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy experience preferred but not required-training provided
  • Familiarity with safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance a plus
