The position involves performing waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CLIA, with responsibilities as outlined under CFR § 493.1425 and § 493.1495. Individuals must possess a degree of skill commensurate with their education, training, or experience and technical abilities. Responsibilities include adhering to laboratory procedures for the collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results, following established quality control policies, identifying problems affecting test performance, and performing a variety of laboratory procedures in multiple disciplines. Additional duties include maintenance of instruments, reviewing patient results, ensuring proficiency testing compliance, performing venipuncture or capillary puncture, assisting in policy development, and potentially acting as Lead Tech in the absence of a supervisor.
