Day Shift - 7.5 Hours (United States of America) Under the direction of a laboratory technologist, perform routine diagnosttic testing within a designated section of the lab. Utilize standard techniques, equipment and instrumentation to conduct all testing. Recognize abnormal or unexpected results and initiate follow up or corrective action within established parameters.

Requirements

  • 1 year experience in clinical lab preferred.
  • NYSDOH license required
  • Days w/ eo wknd & hols; 2p-5p

Nice To Haves

  • ASCP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs accurate analysis following standard techniques.
  • Utilizes established quality control procedures in order to insure reliable results.
  • Maintains instruments and equipment and insures they are in good working condition.
  • Practices established preventative maintenance protocols and documents these actions appropriately.
  • Keeps accurate records of work performed according to established procedures using designated computer systems in order to document and work productively.
  • Compares test results to pre-established criteria in order to determine the reportability of results.
  • Insures results meet preset parameters or criteria.
  • Recognizes and communicates unusual test results to the supervisor or manager in order to insure prompt reporting of abnormal or critical values.
  • Monitors supplies, materials, and reagents.
  • Reports inventory shortages to technologist or supervisors to insure uninterrupted service.
  • Participates in technical projects as directed in order to expand and improve service.
  • Demonstrates routine procedures for students and technicians under the supervision of technologists in order to fulfill the department's goals.
  • Attends in-service training programs to improve knowledge and skills, and to share experience with staff.
  • Complies with all RUMC infection control and safety procedures in order to provide a safe environment for self, staff and patients.
