About The Position

The Clinical Lab Professional 3 will provide primary support to the Martha Morehouse Laboratory, and secondary support to ancillary James’ laboratory locations as needed. The Martha Morehouse Laboratory provides comprehensive, time sensitive laboratory services to patients with a variety of diagnoses or admission/discharge criteria. The Martha Morehouse laboratory staff performs testing on patient specimens utilizing chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and coagulation analyzers. The laboratory provides training for residents, new staff and medical technology students. The laboratory is staffed 10 hours per day, Monday through Friday with hours varying according to workflow and holidays. The senior clinical laboratory professional provides advanced technical or operational experience within the Clinical Laboratory. The senior clinical laboratory professional performs specialized automated and manual laboratory procedures, verifies and reports test requests and results, and is directly responsible for the technical quality of tests performed in the laboratory. Administrative duties include instrument technical requirements including validations, creation and execution of section competencies, section QA/QI responsibilities, technical procedure writing/implementation, assisting with scheduling, training and recordkeeping. The senior clinical laboratory professional works under the direction of the division director, lead technologist, and lab manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or biological science.
  • American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification obtained within 1 year of hire.
  • Candidates must have 1 year of work experience as a Clinical Laboratory Professional at OSU Medical Center in the focused area of oversight.
  • Maintains certification status: meets mandatory education and health surveillance requirements.
  • Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.
