About The Position

The Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS), under general supervision, is responsible for specimen processing, test performance, result review and reporting of results. Each CLS only performs those tests for which they are authorized and have demonstrated the required skill commensurate with their education, training and technical abilities. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in the life sciences or an equivalent field of study required
• Two years of experience working as a clinical laboratory scientist (CLS) in a complex medical laboratory preferred
• Knowledge of medical lab standard operating procedures
• Ability to perform complex clinical lab tests and interpret and analyze data
• Ability to use and maintain specialized lab equipment
• Excellent dexterity and analytical skills
• Ability to read, write legibly, and speak in English with professional quality
• Ability to use computer and software programs necessary to the position
• Ability to operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment
• Ability to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone
• Ability to think critically and work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to perform basic math functions
• Ability to manage multiple assignments effectively
• Ability to work well under pressure and problem solve
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload
• Ability to recall information with accuracy and pay close attention to detail
• Ability to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care
• Ability to hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone
• Ability to identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace/patient care
• Ability to see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position
• Ability to discern temperature variances through touch
