About The Position

The CLS Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the Clinical Laboratory Services (CLS) team to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant laboratory testing and operations. This position is responsible for managing daily workflows, coordinating staff activities, and maintaining high standards of quality control and regulatory compliance. The supervisor will serve as a key liaison between laboratory personnel, healthcare providers, and administrative teams to facilitate effective communication and problem resolution. Additionally, the role involves training, mentoring, and evaluating laboratory staff to promote professional development and operational excellence. Ultimately, the CLS Supervisor ensures that laboratory services support optimal patient care outcomes while adhering to all safety and regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Technology, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalent from an accredited certifying body.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory regulations, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Healthcare Administration, or related discipline.
  • Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Previous experience managing a diverse team in a high-volume clinical laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Advanced certifications such as Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) or Clinical Chemistry.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the CLS team to ensure efficient laboratory operations.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with all applicable regulatory standards, including CLIA, CAP, and OSHA.
  • Oversee quality control procedures and troubleshoot technical issues to maintain accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Provide training, guidance, and performance evaluations for laboratory staff to foster a skilled and motivated workforce.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative personnel to address operational challenges and improve service delivery.
