Day - 08 Hour (United States of America) Job Summary Serves as a technical resource to internal hospital staff and external entities; develops policies and procedures; reviews technical work of others, solves complex technical problems; develops teaching protocols/curriculums in addition to the essential functions of the CLS. Educates internally and externally as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

  • CLS Limited – Clinical Laboratory Scientist
  • CLS-CHEM – Clinical Chemist Scientist License
  • CLS-CYTO – Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist License
  • CLS-GMB – Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist License
  • CLS-HEMA – Clinical Hematologist Scientist License
  • CLS-HISTO – Clincal Histocompatibility Scientist License
  • CLS-IMM – Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License
  • CLS-MICRO – Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License
  • CLS-TOX – Clinical Toxicologist Scientist License
  • For Microbiology, Virology, Cytology or Genomics Labs only: PHM – California Certified Public Health Microbiologist; or CGMBS – Clinical Genetic Molecular Biology Scientist
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Knowledge of new technologies (in specific field) and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety/health regulatory and state/federal legal requirements and the policies, operating procedures, and service standards of the hospitals.
  • Conduct analyses using clinical laboratory techniques in hematology, chemistry, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology or related laboratory specialties.
  • Perform clinical laboratory tests of varying complexity using standard procedures to provide information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease.
  • Maintain and verify the functionality of analytical instruments. Perform operational checks to ensure accurate assay performance and reliable results.
  • Perform advanced equipment/instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Serve as a technical resource to others. Assess training needs, develop training materials, and provide in-services for laboratory personnel. Conduct competency assessment of staff as assigned.
  • Lead validation/verification of laboratory instruments/assays. Complete validation reports/summaries.
  • Develop, review, and update laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Prepare for and support regulatory/accreditation surveys.
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and assist with quality assurance activities.
  • Act as designee in the absence of supervisor or manager as needed. Rotate as weekend lead.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
