About The Position

The Clinical Lab Scientist - Microbiology position at St. Agnes Hospital is a full-time role focused on performing and interpreting laboratory tests to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment. The position requires a combination of day and evening shifts, with occasional late-night shifts and a rotation that includes every fourth weekend and two holidays annually. A sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates with a two-year service commitment.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or equivalent years of experience and education.
• State of Work Location: Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Wisconsin Blood Bank Technologist (BB) or other relevant certifications from ASCP or AAB.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of laboratory tests from simple blood tests to more complex tests.
• Interpret test reports and communicate findings to physicians.
• Escalate unusual, critical, or abnormal results.
• Operate complex electronic equipment, computers, and precision instruments.
• Maintain accuracy of equipment and reagents by performing established preventive maintenance procedures.
• Assist providers in choosing appropriate lab tests.
• Perform and evaluate quality control procedures.
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot instruments.
• Assist with the proper storage of hazardous materials.
• Review current literature and attend meetings and seminars to keep informed of new developments in the field.
• Assist in the proficiency testing program in the lab.
• Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
