About The Position

The Clinical Lab Scientist Intern trains with a designated Clinical Lab Scientists (CLS) in all departments of the Clinical Laboratory and completes all required objectives and specific program requirements as specified by CSU San Jose, School of Clinical Laboratory Science. This is a part-time position requiring 64-71 hours worked in a two-week pay period. This position is for internal applicants only.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree (BA) from an accredited university in Clinical Laboratory Science or related science.
• Acceptance into the CSUSJ School of CLS and approved designation to Oroville Hospital as a trainee.
• Possession of a California CLS trainee license from the California Department of Health Services.
• Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively and work in a team setting.
• Demonstrates the ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical materials.
• Demonstrates the ability to observe, comprehend and adequately perform all laboratory procedures as related to each department's training objectives.
• Basic knowledge of department specific computer programs and additional programs related to the CSUSJ CLS training program.
• The ability to organize training materials, research additional information as necessary and prepare adequately for both didactic and practical objectives as related to each department or subject matter.

Responsibilities

• Completes required training objectives and competencies and can perform effectively all specified tasks in phlebotomy.
• Trains and becomes proficient in all department subject matter and can perform specified tasks as an entry level CLS at the completion of each department rotation with an acceptable evaluation from the Department Supervisor.
• Completes lecture series and all required objectives, examinations and evaluations as designated by the CSU San Jose, School of Clinical Laboratory Science.
• Communicates with the Education Coordinator or Department Supervisors regarding progress of training, individual performance issues or any other areas of concern.
