About The Position

The Clinical Lab Scientist II position at Ambry Genetics is an entry-level role responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting clinical molecular genetic test results. The position requires a Clinical Laboratory Scientist license from the California Department of Public Health and involves conducting clinical molecular genetic testing under supervision, adhering to laboratory procedures, and maintaining records of patient test results. The work schedule is from Wednesday to Saturday, 2:00 PM to 12:30 AM PT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist license from the California Department of Public Health.
  • Technical knowledge of laboratory testing and terminology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work within a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize work.
  • Computer skills and working knowledge of standard office equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist (CGMBS) license preferred.
  • Prior work experience in a laboratory certified under CLIA.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical molecular genetic testing for a single workflow under supervision.
  • Process specimens and perform tests in accordance with laboratory procedures.
  • Maintain records of patient test results.
  • Submit Kace tickets for reagent making, IT, and equipment issues.
  • Provide signatures for proficiency testing samples.
  • Adhere to quality control (QC) policies and document all QC and quality assurance (QA) activities.
  • Identify problems affecting test performance and notify the Lead CLS or Lab Supervisor.
  • Complete training and competency on all tasks performed.
  • Follow laboratory policies for personal protective equipment (PPE) and hazardous waste disposal.
