About The Position

The Clinical Lab Coordinator at Boise Regional Medical Center collaborates with lab leads, coordinators, supervisors, and lab managers to provide educational programs aimed at enhancing the quality of clinical training, increasing the quantity of work, fostering professional growth of the staff, and ensuring safe and effective healthcare for patients. The role involves ongoing participation in the effective provision of professional development activities, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational activities according to established standards.

Requirements

  • Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or equivalent certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required.
  • Specialty certification desirable.
  • Experience in laboratory education desirable.
  • At least 5 years of medical technology training required.
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in medical technology or related science required.
  • 3 years of experience in the specialty area desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other service departments to improve patient flow and work processes.
  • Promote a learning environment that enhances learner's competence in providing quality laboratory skills and clinical skills through various educational methods.
  • Integrate research, evidence-based practice, and current literature into educational activities.
  • Facilitate the development, attainment, and evaluation of Laboratory staff orientation.
  • Provide focused education to specific laboratory departments.
  • Maintain records of educational offerings.
  • Maintain own clinical skills and competence related to laboratory practices and staff development.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the need for self-growth and pursue personal growth.
  • Maintain department employee records at JCAHO and CAP standards.
