About The Position

The Clinical Lab Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting various laboratory functions, including Anatomic Pathology, Core Laboratory, and Microbiology. This part-time position involves processing and labeling specimens, preparing samples for testing, and assisting with general laboratory tasks under the supervision of experienced laboratory staff.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• No prior laboratory experience required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Experience with computers and data entry required.

Nice To Haves

• Medical Terminology knowledge and experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment with varied tasks simultaneously.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills as well as good teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in areas of the laboratory including Anatomic Pathology, Core laboratory, and Microbiology.
• Process and label specimens in accordance with laboratory policies.
• Prepare various samples such as blood, urine, tissue, and other specimen types for testing.
• Gather data and statistics for reports and process samples for referral testing.
• Track the status of patient reports from referral laboratories.
• Perform general laboratory tasks such as reagent preparation and inventory management.
• Receive and store reagents, set up waived testing, and load samples on appropriate laboratory equipment.
• Maintain instruments under the supervision of a section manager or delegate.
• Collaborate with MT's, MLT's, HLT's, HT's, CT's, and PA's in the laboratory.
