About The Position

The Clinical Lab Assistant PRN position in Pathology & Cytology at Texas Health involves working in a collaborative environment where you can gain a sense of accomplishment. Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency.
• Completion of a one semester course in phlebotomy preferred.
• 6 Months experience as a phlebotomist highly preferred.
• PBT (ASCP) – Phlebotomy Technician preferred upon hire.
• Flexibility to work in Cytology Lab, Histology, and AP sendouts.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen collection, patient identification, and labeling.
• Handle and process specimens according to safety guidelines.
• Perform established laboratory test procedures and report test results.
• Communicate relevant patient data to appropriate personnel.
• Facilitate workflow processes and assist coworkers in providing timely patient care.
• Process specimens and perform outpatient processing.
• Participate in the orientation and training of students and new employees.
• Maintain commitment to professional development through continuing education.
• Follow quality control guidelines and maintain documentation compliance.
• Incorporate safety and infection control measures into work practices.
