About The Position

Responsible for delivering exceptional customer service by providing fast and accurate information upon request. Exhibits problem-solving skills to promote efficient customer service and client satisfaction. Interacts daily with other members of the healthcare team to include laboratory and hospital personnel and must maintain a broad knowledge base.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience working in a clinical laboratory role
  • Certification from an approved laboratory-training program with successful completion of a required internship preferred, or relevant work experience
  • Medical Terminology

Nice To Haves

  • Previous training and competence in dealing with unique needs in the range of customer service situations with clinicians and their office staff.
  • Working knowledge of the various government regulations specifically Medicare and the Washington state medical Test Site regulations.
  • Working knowledge of the College of American Pathologists (ASCP) and the Joint Commission (TJC) inspection criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Answer and navigate calls with accuracy, efficiency, and courtesy using the best customer service tactics and practices.
  • Use the laboratory information system or other reference laboratory's web-based applications to independently solve complex issues in a sensitive, caring and timely manner.
  • Keep accurate records of all calls and both written and verbal requests; provide call statistics to department management.
  • Act as a resource to co-workers, clients and patients for general lab questions and direct any complex technical questions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
