About The Position

This position is responsible for the processing of specimens which includes handling all types of bodily fluids. This position is also responsible for processing of microbiology specimens which includes plating specimens on appropriate growth media. This position also includes some chemistry and urinalysis, the performance of clinical laboratory examinations that are considered 'waived' tests under CLIA 88, and general lab quality control, instrument maintenance, and other functions toward the attainment of these goals.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in an approved laboratory.
  • Computer skills are highly desirable.
  • Associate's Degree in sciences required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Independent judgment and initiative to adapt to techniques and procedures for routine testing.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in emergency situations including working additional hours or shifts.
  • Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and alertly for extended periods of time under stress.
  • Skills in phlebotomy including care and accuracy in the collection and labeling of specimens.
  • Effective communication skills including listening, speaking, writing, and reading.
