About The Position

The CLA will work closely with the CLA Manager, Laboratory Supervisor, and Lab Director to maintain a high level of accuracy, efficiency, and proficiency in specimen collection and processing, including: Ensuring all lab requests are promptly stored in their specified locations Phlebotomy and point-of-care testing at various locations. Receiving and collecting patient and lab specimens, following proper collection, ensuring specimens are correctly labeled and department procedures are followed. Double checks and verifies all information and patient identifiers are clearly indicated before accessioning specimens into the Meditech LIS/HIS system. Ensures communication and coordination with staff all STAT, Urgent (3 hour TAT), and Routine requests are correctly logged, promptly sorted, and safely transported to the appropriate sections of the laboratory and/or for send-outs. The CLA must be able to accurately and efficiently perform proper specimen handling, processing, micro-culture set-up & gram stain, including technical and documentation tasks such as drawing blood, bar code labeling, specimen handling, etc. Patient Safety is essential in this position. As a CLA you are required to assess patient status after draw to determine if they can leave without assistance, or provide/locate required assistance. Presenting and explaining Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) to patients as needed Monitor supplies inventory and rotate stock. Re-stock trays and draw rooms after use when performing phlebotomy draws.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of Phlebotomy training program and one year of phlebotomy experience (preferred).
