About The Position

The Clinical Lab Analyst is responsible for preparing urine specimens for toxicological analysis using clinical analyzer instrumentation. This role involves following established SOPs for sample preparation and preparing reagents and quality control. The Lab Analyst consults with management for problem resolution, participates in proficiency testing, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards and accreditations. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory practices, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and consult with senior analysts or lab management when issues arise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in laboratory procedures, including sample preparation and analysis, and knowledge of quality control and assurance practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling samples and recording results.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of CLIA requirements and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations.
  • Experience in cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license, with the ability to act as a courier if needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a laboratory setting, with familiarity in handling immunoassay systems.
  • Knowledge of drugs of abuse and controlled substances.

Responsibilities

  • Support lab personnel in preparing and processing urine specimens for testing on AU480 immunoassay system.
  • Assist with the allocation of samples, calibrators, and controls, ensuring accurate distribution and handling.
  • Aid in administrative tasks such as shipping/receiving supplies, managing inventory, reporting, and performing miscellaneous office duties as needed.
  • Receive and record lab test results, including outside medical records, via telephone or computer, ensuring that results and related reports are included in the patient's medical record before their next visit.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of laboratory quality control and assurance procedures by following standard operating procedures and completing required forms/logs.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by laboratory staff, including answering phones, data entry, and inventory management.
  • Adhere to CLIA requirements and safety protocols, while practicing patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with Clinic policies and HIPAA regulations.
  • Clean laboratory equipment, including glassware, coolers, and workstations, following standard operating procedures to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Prepare all reagents, calibrators, and quality control required for analysis. Ensure accuracy and precision in all testing procedures.
  • Possess reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license, with the potential to act as a courier for specimen pickup from clinics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
