About The Position

The main responsibility of the Clinical Instructor is the instruction, supervision, and evaluation of nursing students in traditional classroom setting, lab or in a clinical environment.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN or ASN) is required.
  • Two (2) years' experience in nursing practice is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and proficiency in English language is required.
  • An unencumbered Alabama registered nurse license is required.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Evidence of current nursing knowledge, clinical skills and teaching competence is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree (BSN) and/or Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) is preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience at the RN and/or PN level is preferred.
  • Nursing practice in pediatric nursing or mental health nursing is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the policies, rules, and standards of Central Alabama Community College, Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, accrediting agencies and federal regulatory bodies.
  • Instruct, supervise, evaluate, and record nursing students' performance in clinical areas in the day, evening, or weekends at any clinical site.
  • Assist with orientation of students.
  • Assist with maintenance of skills lab and equipment.
  • Evaluate clinical sites and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Assist with implementation and evaluation of the curriculum and nursing program.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with other faculty, hospital personnel, and community agencies.
  • Keep current on nursing knowledge, clinical practice skills and teaching methodologies.
  • Become familiar with policies and procedures on the nursing unit to which students are assigned.
  • Identify, select, and arrange appropriate clinical laboratory experiences for students.
  • Supervise all student clinical experiences including pre- and post- conferences during the day, evening, and weekend hours.
  • Exhibit skills in nursing techniques which are within the area of clinical teaching.
  • Serve as a role model for students.
  • Participate in professional growth activities.
  • Possess the ability to travel to all campuses, clinical sites, meetings and educational offerings.
  • Serve on college committees; attend faculty, departmental, and other meetings as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that relate to the position.
