About The Position

Responsible for providing Medical Nutrition Therapy for patients in the acute care setting as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Specialty areas of coverage include Behavioral Health and Inpatient Rehab. The Dietitian will: (1) assess nutrition needs, diet restrictions, and current health plans with medically complex patients to develop, document, and implement dietary-care plans; (2) evaluate electronic medical record in preparing nutrition recommendations; (3) counsel individuals, groups, and their families on individualized nutrition prescriptions, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve quality of life; and (4) incorporate patient cultural, ethnic, or religious preferences and needs in the development of nutrition plans. Position supervises 1-2 Student Preceptors per year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Nutrition and Dietetics, or a related field
  • 6 months related experience
  • 6 months of experience with Performing comprehensive nutrition assessments for medically complex patients including evaluating nutritional needs, interpreting lab values, diagnosing malnutrition, diet restrictions, and current health plans
  • 6 months of experience with Developing and implementing medical nutrition therapy and providing nutritional counseling/education to patients, groups, and their families
  • 6 months of experience with Using EPIC Electronic Medical Records and CBORD Diet Office System to maintain accurate documentation of medical nutrition therapy assessments, interventions, follow up, and care plans
  • Must be licensed or eligible to be licensed with the State of Minnesota Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice
  • Must be registered or registry eligible with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association
