About The Position

The Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS) supports the mission of the Clinical Informatics Department (CID) by practicing and assisting in clinical information system implementation, maintenance and support, including all phases of the system development life cycle: analysis, design, development, testing, training/end user support, go-live, and transition to maintenance. The CIS utilizes inter-team and inter-departmental coordination, communication and collaboration to accomplish goals. This position supports CID in providing informatics support to OHSU partner, affiliate, and community connect organizations. CID employees are responsible for the security of OHSU technology and must follow OHSU's security directives, incorporating security measures in their everyday tasks.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in an IT related field, business, informatics, a clinical field or equivalent and 2 years’ work related experience in the information technology field supporting electronic health records.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field, business, informatics, a clinical field or equivalent and 5 years’ work related experience.
  • Associate’s degree in an IT related field, business, informatics, a clinical field or equivalent and 7 years’ work related experience.
  • 8 years’ work related experience in the information technology field supporting electronic health records.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters in a Healthcare field.
  • 3 years of experience as an informaticist or informatics specialist.
  • Clinical licensure.
  • Existing vendor certifications or equivalent.
  • Current CPHIMS or equivalent.
  • PMP or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Leads change management efforts for department level initiatives and new workflows.
  • Engages with the governance structure as it pertains to assigned work.
  • Demonstrates understanding and adherence to change management processes.
  • Leads user group efforts as assigned and partners with provider informaticists.
  • Creates customer communication for system enhancements and fixes.
  • Independently creates project plans for routine changes and manages the work.
  • Coordinates and develops training plans and user documentation for changes.
  • Supports go-live activities and mentors colleagues for knowledge transfer.
  • Analyzes current state and maps future state, identifying gaps and creating recommendations.
  • Assists with hardware assessments as it pertains to clinical use.
  • Creates tasks, work estimates and recommends assignment of resources to tasks.
  • Participates in and compiles lessons learned at project conclusions.
